Somewhere around 1997-98 (or the late 1900s if you want to make someone feel old), I had a couple of friends over. They showed up and we helped each other pack in their PCs and giant CRT monitors. The agenda: LAN party. We were going to connect our computers and play a game together. The only problem was none of us were super up on how to set up home networking at this stage in our lives. And it’s not like Windows 95 was nearly as plug and play as advertised.

Welcome to the Slasho.me blog. I’ve owned this domain for probably 10 years now, and have mostly used it for self-hosting. Occasionally I feel like typing something out. But where? Most platforms tend to limit you to two hundred-xx characters, or you’re competing with a million strangers to be heard or seen.
Not here. This is my space. My small corner of the net to scream my thoughts into the void.
Maybe nobody will ever read this blog. Maybe they will. But as a former resident of GeoCities, I can tell you this. It’s not about the destination, it’s about the journey.
So that’s the Slasho.me blog, who is this intrepid blogger behind it? I’m glad you asked, reader. My name is [REDACTED], though online I’m known as Hiro. I took the name from an old anime called Venus Wars that was part of the Sci-Fi Channel’s Japanimation block, the first introduction of many ppl my age to anime.
I’m your stereotypical nerd. I’ve got a serious soft spot for 80s/90s culture. The Goonies remains my all time number one. And I’m pretty big into tech. Aside from professionally, a lot of my spare time ends up with me tinkering on some sort of project that likely involves soldering, a Raspberry Pi, 3D printing or a combination of all 3. Occasionally I’ll mix in some video games. Satisfactory ate thousands of hours of my life, as did WoW in the BC/WotLK days. I’m also an avid board gamer, though some of the collections I see online put mine to shame. That’s okay though. It’s all about quality, not quantity.
As this is mostly meant as an introduction, this seems like a good place to stop. My future posts, whenever they arrive, will likely just be my musings about things that interest me, projects I’m doing or have done, just whatever. If that’s your thing, as the great Deckard Cain once said:
“Stay awhile and listen.”
