Checking in

Hello interwebs, it's been a minute.

I just wanted to put some thoughts down and out to the world, if anyone stumbles across this ever. Just to put out where things are with life.

The finished cyberdeck

Actually, nothing special to report. Nothing earth shattering, or ground breaking. I did, however, finish up the cyberdeck project. That was fun. Enjoy a picture!

After that, I moved on to designing a cable TV box. This is a custom housing designed in FreeCAD to hold a Raspbery Pi and a 2.5 inch hard drive. The pi runs the excellent software FieldStation42, which allows you to use your own media to create television stations to hook up to old CRT TVs. The purpose of this is to recreate that nostalgic 80s/90s feeling of just surfing channels to see what's on, as opposed to the decision paralysis of having to choose from thousands of titles on streaming services to start manually.

I've really loved messing with FS42, and the community's been great. In general, most ppl will stream their media from a network share. I, however, have loaded all of my media onto a hard drive. The reason for this is because I want to take it with me when I travel.

Speaking of travel, in less than a week I'll be going to Gen Con in Indianapolis! I couldn't tell you how many times I've been. At the very least 3, at the most 5. I think. It's been around 3 years since the last time I went, so I'm definitely looking forward to getting back there. In terms of events, I've got a packed schedule. It should be fun.

That's all the important things for now. Tune in next time, intrepid reader!
